Sustainable Gardening Workshop at the Vacaville Cultural Center Library

By Andrea Klecki

Representatives from Sustainable Solano—an organization dedicated towards helping local communities become more ecologically sustainable—will be presenting a workshop on sustainable gardening methods. Sustainable landscaper Kathleen Huffman will present information about sustainable landscaping: beautiful, productive, life-supporting ecosystems featuring trees and a variety of perennials fed by "secondary" water (greywater and rainwater). Information about the Vacaville Sustainable Backyard Program will also be shared. The program will be on Saturday, Sept. 15 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The library is located at 1020 Ulatis Drive. For further information call 1-866-57-ASKUS or look on the library website at To learn more about Sustainable Solano, visit their website at
