Teen Writing Contest Winners

The Solano County Library is pleased to announce the winners of the 2019 Teen Writing Contest.

Teens ages 12-18 were invited by the Solano County Library to submit original poems, short stories and essays last October for the Teen Writing Contest.  The contest began in September and ended in October during TeenTober. TeenTober was created by the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) and aims to advocate for and raise awareness of the importance of year-round teen services in libraries. Entries for the writing contest were judged by local dignitaries.

The winners will be published in an online journal that will be produced later next year.

The winners in the short story category are Nina Del Ponte, Fiona Minnich and Katherine Marsden.

The winners in the poetry category are Amara Barney, Diya Patel and Kieran Anima.

The winners in the essay category are Blanca Ruiz-Rodriguez and Alexis Crisostomo.

Thank you to our judges for judging the entries. The judges were Supervisor Monica Brown, young adult author Adelle Yeung and Vallejo Poet Laureate D.L. Lang.
