Solano County Library is a progressive and innovative library with secure funding and widespread support from the community. In 1998, a sales tax dedicated exclusively to libraries, was passed with over a two-thirds majority.
In 2001 the Library launched a twenty-year plan to build seven new libraries and renovate and expand six others. The plan is on track: three libraries have been renovated, one new library has been built and another is under construction. The Library offers an extensive training program, a cafeteria health plan equivalent to $738 per month, and PERS 2.7% @ 55, with the County paying 4.5% of the employee's contribution.
Solano County is an ethnically diverse community in a rural and suburban area near San Francisco, Lake Tahoe, the Napa Valley, the state capitol and a number of top-tier academic institutions.
