"I Wish You All the Best" book review by Solano County teen, 10th grade Sammi B.

Book: I Wish You All the Best

Author: Mason Deaver

Reviewer: Sammi B., 10th Grade

Ben De Backer has a secret that only their best friend knows about. Ben is nonbinary. They hoped that their parents would accept them for who they are. Unfortunately, the result of their coming out was the exact opposite. Ben’s parents kicked them out. Ben’s new life immediately started at this point in time: they went to live with their estranged sister and brother-in-law; they started a new school senior year; they met the most incredible friends of all time. Ben’s life truly started when it seemed like it was at its very end.

Mason Deaver did a spectacular job of inventing this completely underrated world that has everything, both depressing and jovial, one could ever want in a novel. Something that I liked about this book was how heartwarming it can be at times. Teens who are absolutely terrified that anyone won’t want to know them once they discover who they truly are will definitely enjoy this masterpiece.
