Holiday Food Drive

Happy holidays, Vallejo community! We are doing a food drive for the upcoming holidays and accepting donations through Saturday, December 21, 2024.
There is a recommended shopping list that, if followed, will provide a full meal bag or dessert bag to your fellow community members.
Recommended Shopping List= 1 Meal Bag

  • Canned chicken or turkey
  • Canned or packaged gravy
  • Canned vegetables
  • Boxed stuffing
  • Instant mashed potatoes

Recommended Shopping List= 1 Dessert Bag

  • Canned apple or cherry pie filling
  • Box of granola bars

Donations will be assembled into bags and distributed at the library on Tuesday, November 26, and Monday, December 23.

Holiday Zip Line Challenge

Check out this holiday season’s STEM challenge. Drop in and help Mr. Gingerbread escape the mob and make it home safely down the mountain. Construct a carrier to go down the zip line safely. Materials will be provided.

Holiday Painting

It’s time for painting! Paint at your own pace, socialize, and snack with friends and family. There will be a selection of paint-your-own-canvas-kits to choose from.
Thanks to a generous donation from the Friends of the Vallejo Libraries, paint-your-own-canvas-kits will be provided free of charge.

The King Sings Holiday Classics

Filipino Parol Lantern Workshop

It’s the most wonderful time of the year!
Parols are star-shaped, hand-crafted paper lanterns that have been popularized in the Philippines in celebration of the holidays.
Ages 7 to adult. Anyone aged 7-12 must be accompanied by an adult.
**To ensure safety due to tripping hazards and hot glue guns, we kindly ask that children under 7 not attend. Thank you!
Registration is required. One parol per group registration. Adult assistance for the craft is required (parol will be ~14 inches in diameter).

Wrapping Paper Exchange

How many times do you over-purchase multi-packs of wrapping paper when they go on clearance, just to end up wanting something different for your holiday gifts the next year? The Dixon Library would like to offer an outlet for exchange of gift-wrapping supplies! Bring your new or lightly used wrapping paper rolls in and exchange with a neighbor – you never know what you’ll find! We will also accept gift boxes, bows, and ribbons for exchange. Join us from 3p – 4pm on Monday, December 9th, or Monday, December 16th.

Read to a Dog: Holiday Edition

Kids will be able to read to Santa and his doggie helpers during this special holiday edition of Read to a Dog. Children will also be able to write and receive a letter from Santa courtesy of Legendary Letters.

Join us for a cozy winter storytime! Dress in your comfy clothes and bring a stuffed toy with you. We will have a special winter story time with hot chocolate and treats for the family. After story time you can leave your stuffy for a stuffed toy sleepover at the library! The following day you can pick up your stuffy and find out what library activities and fun they got into!
