Book: Six Crimson Cranes

Author: Elizabeth Lim

Reviewer: Amber/Quinn, 9th Grade

In Six Crimson Cranes the creative and inspiring writing of Elizabeth Lim develops a recreation of the fairytale story Six Swans, of which a girl cannot tell anyone her name and needs to find her home, while her six brothers have been turned into six birds. Lim puts a creative spin onto this tale with mythical elements of fantasy and tempting characters–her tension building and cliffhangers are also entangled within the mixture, creating a vital requirement of a book for readers that enjoy fantasy, romance, and adventure–as well as emotional books. The way the characters develop contrasting relationships with each other built off of love or hatred, as well as the different conflicts the protagonist faces to climb up to her objective reflect realistic components that allure the viewer even more. I definitely recommend this book for lovers of cultural, mythical, and tender aspects!
