In this graphic novel, a young shapeshifter girl that goes by the name Nimona meets Ballister Blackheart, an infamous villain. She convinces him to be let her be his sidekick after she reveals her powers to him. Although Ballister is a villain, he has his own morals such as no needless killing while Nimona always uses violence as an answer. Together these two different people try to blacken the Institute’s name, an organization that Ballister believes is corrupted. A once close friend of Ballister named Ambrosious Goldenloin serves this Institute and is commanded to stop Ballister and Nimona’s evil plans at any cost. This story contains a bank robbery, a dragon, poisoned apples, and a whole lot of crazy! This book takes place in a medieval time period with advanced technology and magic. It also contains a lot of unique characters. This book is not very predictable, but there is not that a lot of big plot twists either. People who enjoy fantasy stories with unpredictable events will definitely enjoy this book.
