The book The Fort was written by Gordon Korman and published in 2022. The book follows five
13 year old boys, switching in-between their various points of view as they go through their
adventurous journey. In the book, after a hurricane hits their town the boys go into the woods
and end up finding an underground bunker in which belonged to an old wealthy eccentric who
had passed away a few years earlier. After debate the boys decided to keep this hidden from
everyone else. As the book continues we get to see more insight into the boys personal lives
and the various struggles they all face along with what this fort means to all of them.

I truly enjoyed this book. I think the author did an amazing job with the pacing and character
development. Although this book is aimed for preteens, the topics and struggles the boys face
are very relatable for teens and people of more mature ages. It was amazing how each
character had their own story that the author was able to connect to each other and build their
friendship off of. I would totally recommend this book to anyone looking for a quick simple read.
