Book: Valkyrie

The novel starts off with Freya, a Valkyrie, who dreaded to begin fulfilling her duties of escorting fallen warriors to Valhalla. Through her first mission in the world of the living, she reforms the way she views humans, and ends up venturing on her own path in the mortal world. She breaks away from her responsibilities as a Valkyrie, and becomes friendly with humans; however, she’s later left to decide between siding with the gods of her home, and her new friends. The story is a good example of the Heroine’s Journey and explores topics of learning to accept oneself under a better understanding. Valkyrie by Kate O’Hearn is an amazing book for those who enjoy Norse mythology, or for those who are interested in learning about it. Personally, I really enjoyed the book – It had a well-developed plot, and the characters had a lot of dialogue between them.
