Welcome to 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten!

Solano County Library invites families with children ages 0–5 to join a fun reading challenge: read 1,000 books before your child starts kindergarten!

Why it matters:
Reading with your child builds early literacy skills, boosts confidence, and creates special bonding moments.

How it works:

  • Read any book—print, ebook, or audiobook.

  • Repeating books and storytime books count too!

  • Log your books in the tracker from the library.

  • After every 100 books, visit the library for a special sticker.

  • At 1,000 books, your child will earn a free book and a certificate!

How to reach 1,000 books:
You can read at your own pace! Here are some ideas:

  • 3 books a day  or 20 books a week= 1 year

  • 1 book a day  or 7 books a week= 3 years

  • 4 books a week = 5 years

Who can join?
Any child from birth to kindergarten. Siblings can join too!
